Jagadacharya Shri Amritji (Yogi Amrit Desai)

Jagadacharya Shri Amritji (Yogi Amrit Desai) is an internationally recognized authority on yoga and holistic living. Widely acknowledged for carrying the authentic voice of yoga to the world, he has been honored both in the U.S. and abroad. Some of his distinguished titles include International Yoga Grand Master from HH Jagat Guru Amrta Suryananda Maha Raja, Portuguese Yoga Confederation. Doctor of Yoga, Jagadacharya (Universal Teacher), and the rare Vishwa Yoga Ratna, awarded by the President of India. Yogi Desai began teaching yoga in 1960, making him one of the earliest pioneers of yoga in the West. Following a profound life-transforming Kundalini awakening, he developed a methodology that altered the popular notion of yoga as a physical discipline and reintroduced a spiritual dimension to the practice of Hatha Yoga. He named this approach Kripalu Yoga: Meditation in Motion, in honor of his guru, Swami Kripalvanandji. The yoga society Yogi Desai founded eventually grew to become Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, one of the largest centers of its kind in America. The methodology he developed has evolved into the Amrit Method, which he continues to refine. Today, his approach is practiced by thousands around the world, with certified teachers in 45 countries. In 2000, Gurudev founded and continues to teach at the Amrit Yoga Institute in Salt Springs Florida, where the dominant focus is on meditative awareness through the Integrative Amrit Methods. This added dimension extends the benefits beyond the body, creating new possibilities to widen the range of therapeutic applications and opportunities for healing professionals and anyone on the path of self-discovery.

Smash Tank (Karen Petersen)

Karen became Smash Tank in 2012 when she embarked on a complete mind, body and spirit transformation to lose over 100 pounds of excess body fat and became a roller derby athlete, fitness enthusiast, group fitness instructor, and nutrition specialist. Yoga was added into the mix after an ankle break; her skating coach advised her to look into yoga to learn to relax.

Yoga has been hugely effective in helping Smash learn to calm her demon, and yoga teacher training had revolutionized her internally and externally. It's been an amazing blessing to be a lifelong student of yoga, and is truly a gift to teach and share the practice with others!

Smash teaches in studios and gyms, and volunteers in fitness centers, recovery and rehabilitation programs, hosts online challenges, and has authored a yoga-based Action Plan at AnActionPlan.com. She's an author, speaker and success coach, and utilizes yoga in her success programs to empower others with her coaching, her stories, her experiences, and her personal insight.

Newcomers, high performers (athletes, academic achievers and professionals), bariatric and injured students are among Smash's favorite folks to work with. Having personal experience with all of these, she brings compassion, power and grace to people who want, need, and seek it.

Smash is based out of Daytona Beach, Florida, and travels throughout the United States to share health, wellness and a passion for roller skating. She focuses on authenticity, personal development, growth, breath work, meditation, and empowerment.

Yoga has figuratively and literally saved Smash's life, as she practiced deep ujaii one morning when she looked into her rear-view mirror and saw that a truck was about to hit her. Her car was totaled and she was permanently affected physically by the accident, and practicing yoga in action had saved her life. Her doctors couldn't explain how she was alive and functioning, and Smash told them it was because of the miracle of yoga.

Every breath is a blessing, and Smash loves sharing breath, asana and spiritual energies with every being she encounters!
